A Sampler of Events That Made History Between 1 AD and 99 AD

55 - The Roman jurist Sabinus writes three books on the rights of citizens.
25 - The Han dynasty is restored in China as Liu Xiu proclaims himself Emperor, starting the Jianwu era.
73 - The Romans capture Masada, the last outpost of the Jewish rebel forces following the end in 70 of the First Jewish-Roman War (the Jewish Revolt). Nearly 1,000 surviving defenders commit mass suicide when defeat becomes imminent.
70 - Rome captures 1st wall of the city of Jerusalem
22 - Roman law replaces Celtic customs in Gaul.
2 - Venus-Jupiter in conjunction-Star of Bethlehem
6 - Herod Archelaus, ethnarch of Samaria, Judea, and Idumea, is deposed and banished to Vienne in Gaul.
95 - Frontinus is appointed superintendent of the aqueducts (curator aquarum) in Rome.
92 - Legio XXI Rapax is destroyed by the Sarmatians of Pannonia.
4 - A pact of non-aggression and friendship is signed between the Roman Empire, represented by Tiberius, and the German tribe the Cherusci, represented by their King Segimer.
